10 Items or Less - You are who you meet is an American comedy film by director and screenwriter Brad Silberling. In the two main roles Morgan Freeman and Paz Vega are seen.

10 Items or Less is the first production of film history that already, while it was shown in theaters, could be legally downloaded from the Internet. The American providers click Star, a joint venture of Morgan Freeman, Lori McCreary and the producers Intel, released a digital copy on 15 December 2006, just 14 days after theatrical release. The possibility of use of the service so far, however, limited to U.S. users. The American Film Institute evaluated the digital provision in its annual review as one of the most significant events in film history in 2006.

Action

'He', a unique name does not give him the film, is included in the annual Come, formerly sought-after actor, who is four years without commitment. While preparing for a role in an independent film, which he finally accepts, he meets Scarlet, a young cashier at a Latino supermarket in a suburb of Los Angeles. Leaving his driver seems to be his only chance to return to Hollywood Scarlet. On the way the two protagonists meet each other, as well as the similarities and differences of the worlds from which they come.

Awards

The producer Julie Lynn was nominated for the Producers Award at the Independent Spirit Awards 2007. The National Board of Review of completed the film as one of the best independent films of 2006.

Reviews

In the U.S., the film received mixed reviews. AO Scott of The New York Times praised the marked by escalating calls and comical situations relaxed humor of the film. Desson Thomson of The Washington Post called the film a " well-intentioned but failed experiment ", as the chemistry between the characters and actors do not agree.

In Germany the film was not shown in cinemas, but was released in 2007 by the print media largely ignored on DVD. The lexicon of international film sums up: " The likeable film offers not free from self- references, unusual entertainment and makes us reflect about life in the ghetto [ in ]. "
