104th Jäger Division (Wehrmacht)

The 104th Jäger Division was a major unit of the Wehrmacht.

History

On July 6, 1942, the Division in Serbia was set up as 704th Infantry Division. She was part of the 15 line-up shaft. Between 1941 and 1943, the division operated mostly under the command of the Military Commander in Serbia as an occupation force.

On April 1, 1943, the reclassification took place in the 104th Jäger Division with simultaneous placing under the Army Group E. With this she went from July 1943 as occupation troops to Greece, where it was distributed to the Greek islands. As of November 1944, the Division on Serbia and Croatia has had to withdraw.

The majority of the troops came in May 1945 in Celje in Yugoslav captivity.

War crimes

Part of the 104th Jäger Division took part in the massacre of Kefalonia, at the 5200 soldiers of the Italian Division " Acqui " died.
