( 11763 ) Deslandres is an asteroid of the outer main belt, which was discovered on 24 September 1960 by the Dutch astronomer Cornelis Johannes van Houten couple and Ingrid van Houten - Groeneveld. The discovery came as part of the Palomar - Leiden Survey, which recorded by Tom Gehrels with the 120 - inch Oschin Schmidt telescope at Palomar Observatory field plates at Leiden University were screened.

The asteroid is a member of the Koronis family, a group of asteroids that is named after (158 ) Koronis. The timeless ( nichtoskulierenden ) orbital elements of ( 11763 ) Deslandres are almost identical to those of the larger asteroids ( 6276 ) Kurohone and the smaller asteroid ( 23808 ) Joshua Hammer, ( 38416 ) 1999 RV213, ( 61422 ) 2000 QN15 and ( 198 804 ) in 2005 EW180. The size comparison is solely based on the absolute brightness, since the diameters of the heavenly bodies are not known.

( 11763 ) Deslandres was named on 26 September 2007 by the French astronomer Henri -Alexandre Deslandres ( 1853-1948 ). After Deslandres was in 1948 a lunar crater was named in the South of the Moon front page: lunar crater Deslandres.
