Production and representation

1,2-dichloro- 4-nitrobenzene can be obtained by nitration of 1,2-dichlorobenzene, but other isomers formed. Also possible is the preparation by chlorination of 4 -chloronitrobenzene. The annual production volume in 2001 was more than 35,000 tons.

Properties

1,2- dichloro -4-nitrobenzene is a flammable yellow solid with a characteristic odor, which is very slightly soluble in water. It decomposes on heating above 370 ° C.

Use

1,2-dichloro- 4-nitrobenzene is in the high-pressure lubricant, and is used for the production of vulcanization accelerators, disinfectants, pesticides and colourants.
