(15963) Koeberl

( 15963 ) Koeberl is a main belt asteroid of the middle, which was discovered on February 6, 1998 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory of the European Southern Observatory in Chile ( IAU code 809). Unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid and, had it previously on August 8, 1978 ( 1978 PH1) on 1 September 1987 (1987 RX2 ) each at Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj.

The asteroid belongs to the Eunomia family, one named after (15 ) Eunomia group, which includes probably five percent of the asteroids of the main belt. The timeless ( nichtoskulierenden ) orbital elements of ( 15963 ) Koeberl are almost identical with those of three smaller (if one of the absolute brightness of 14.8, 15.4 and 16.2 compared to 12.9 emanates ) Asteroids: ( 133581 ) 2003 UC55, ( 139 333 ) in 2001 and KD47 ( 174 371 ) in 2002 UZ31.

( 15963 ) Koeberl was named after the Austrian geochemist Christian Koeberl on 13 June 2006.
