( 1625) The NORC is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on September 1, 1953 in Ukkel by the Belgian astronomer Sylvain Julien Victor Arend.

The name of the asteroid is derived from Naval Ordnance Research Calculator, a vacuum tube computer developed by IBM for the U.S. Navy the first generation.
