1783 Calabrian earthquakes

The earthquake of Messina took place on 5 February 1783. The first series of earthquakes occurred in the period from 2 to 9 February 1783, it was followed by more aftershocks until 28 March 1783. Messina addition a number of other towns was in Sicily and Calabria affected by severe destruction. This was due to tectonic processes in the Messina Fault.
