( 17945 ) Hawass is one of the main asteroid belt, which by Australian amateur astronomer John Broughton at his private observatory, the Reedy Creek Observatory ( IAU code 428) was discovered in Queensland, Australia on 14 May 1999.

The asteroid was (* 1947), named after the Egyptian Egyptologist Zahi Hawass, the ( SCA Supreme Council of Antiquities ) caused a greater observance of Egyptology in the international media and the world as Secretary General of the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities.
