(182 ) Elsa is an asteroid of the main asteroid belt, which was discovered on 7 February 1878 by the Austrian astronomer Johann Palisa.
Of the heavenly bodies was named in honor of the Austrian Empress Elisabeth; Elsa is a short form of the name Elizabeth.
Elsa has an unusually long rotation period of 80 hours which is probably caused by a monitoring body. Analyzes of light curves have shown that the asteroid probably is an elongated, irregularly shaped body.
