Apollo runs at an average distance of 1.471 astronomical units in about 650 days on a highly eccentric orbit around the sun. He can approach up to 5 million km of the Earth.

On the basis of radar observations with the Arecibo Observatory was demonstrated in 2005 that Apollo is accompanied by a small moon. The companion has a diameter of about 75 feet and runs at a distance of around 3 km from the asteroid.
