(1866 ) is a near-Earth asteroid Sisyphus ( asteroid ) from the Apollo - type.

The asteroid was discovered on December 5, 1972 by Paul Wild and is according to Sisyphus, a well-known figure in Greek mythology named.

Sisyphus moves between 0.8738 AU ( perihelion ) and 2.9142 AU ( aphelion ) in approximately 2.6 years of the sun. The orbital eccentricity is 0.5387, the web is unusually highly inclined with 41.174 ° to the ecliptic.

Sisyphus is an S-type asteroid with an albedo of about 0.15. He turns in only 2.4 hours on its own axis, thus has an exceptionally fast rotation. With a diameter of about 8 km Sisyphus is the largest known Apollo asteroid.
