1910 Fruitgum Company

1910 Fruitgum Company was an American pop band. It was founded in 1966 by music producer Jerry Kasenetz and Jeff Katz for their bubblegum sound.

Kasenetz and Katz decided mid-1960s to produce music that was aimed specifically at teenagers as buyers. The result was a simple beat rhythm, which was enriched with nursery rhymes as choruses. They put together a few studio musicians to record the song Simon Says.

The name of this "test-tube tape " came from the wrapping paper of an old chewing gum, they found randomly. Thus also the name for this new style of music was found: Bubblegum Music. Other representatives of this were, for example, Partridge Family, The Music Explosion, The Archies or Ohio Express.

When Simon Says a million-seller was, had to be put together for a touring band. By the end of 1970, several successful records were published with changing musicians, then this band broke up again.
