1919 South American Championships in Athletics
The I. Athletics South America Championships were held until April 13, 1919 in Montevideo on 11. It was attended by athletes in part from Chile and Uruguay. The team competition was won by the team of Chile with 67 points against the team of Uruguay with 45 points. The most successful athlete was the Chilean hurdler Julio Kilian, who won three competitions, including the season and once finished second.
The year before a competition between athletes from Argentina, Chile and Uruguay had taken place in Buenos Aires, which are now referred to as the unofficial South America Championships. The only athlete to have won the same competition at the championships in 1919, as in 1918, the Uruguayan Isabelino Gradín was in the 400 -meter run.
