1943 Naples post-office bombing

The Palazzo delle Poste is a post office in the city of Naples. It has been built in the architectural style of fascism (see: Italian rationalism ).

History

The building was completed in 1936. On October 7, 1943, was partially destroyed. The German troops who had occupied Naples and until the beginning of October were driven by the Neapolitans (see: Four Days of Naples ), had mined the building with time bombs. The explosions were so strong that over 100 people died.
