1949 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship
The Volleyball World Championship for Men 1949 held from 10 to 18 September in Prague. At the premiere of the competition ten teams were involved; The German team was not among them. The Soviet Union was unbeaten first world champion.
Mode
The ten participants played in the preliminary round in a four - and two groups of three. The top two teams in each group determined in the final group the world champion. The remaining teams played to the ranks of seven to ten.
