1954 Asian Games

The 2nd Asian Games were held until May 9, 1954 in Manila from 1.

It was attended by 970 athletes from 18 different member associations of the Olympic Council of Asia. At the games, 77 competitions were held in eight sports. The games were after their independence in 1946, opened by Ramon Magsaysay, the third President of the Philippines. The opening and closing ceremonies were held at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila.

The official logo of the games shows a red sun with 16 rays, which was also used in the last Asian Games, and including 20 gold rings. About the Sun are the red or black lettering "Second Asian Games " and including " Ever Onward ". Among the rings is the red lettering " Manila 1954".

Sports

Three sports - boxing, wrestling and shooting - added was, during competitions in cycling no longer took place. All other sports were held in 1951.
