1961 Meistaradeildin

The Faroe Islands Football Championship 1961 was held in the Meistaradeildin said first Faroese league and overall was the 19th season.

Master was KÍ Klaksvík who could thus win the title for the ninth time. Defending champions HB Tórshavn landed in fourth place.

In comparison to the previous season, the strike rate improved to 3.67 per game. The highest victory achieved B36 Tórshavn with a 9:1 at home against TB Tvøroyri, which also represented the highest-scoring game.

In the Meistaradeildin each team to eight games played two games against each other. The point- best team in the season-ending stable as champions this league, a down regulation did not exist.

Course of the season

KÍ Klaksvík easily took the title. Merely in the 1-1 draw at home against HB Tórshavn and 0-0 issued in the away game against TB Tvøroyri had points, the remaining games were all won, thus KÍ remained unbeaten throughout the season.
