1962 African Cup of Nations

The African Cup of Nations 1962 (English: African Cup of Nations, French for Coupe d' Afrique des Nations ) was the third playout of the African continental championship in football and was held from 14 to 21 January in Ethiopia instead. Organized by the African Football Association Continental Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF ) took this time four teams Ethiopia, VA Republic ( Egypt and Syria), Tunisia and Uganda in part. It was played once again in the knockout system from the semi-finals. However, the first time a qualifying was held in which the participants of the nine candidates was reduced to four, with hosts Ethiopia and defending champion United Arab Republic ( Egypt and Syria) were automatically qualified for the finals. All games of the finals were held in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa Addis Ababa at the local stadium.

The team for hosting the first to win the title and African champions was in football.
