1967 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship

The Volleyball Women's World Cup 1967 was held from January 25 to 29 in Tokyo. The team of the host could defend their title successfully.

Events before the start of the tournament

In 1964, the FIVB first chose Peru as host of the World Cup, to be held from 12 to 29 October 1966. As the organization failed in Peru, Japan was determined as an organizer and changed the date to January 1967. Immediately before the start of the tournament took place in Tokyo at unrest. The hosts refused to name the official name of East Germany and North Korea, and to present the national anthems and flags of these countries. Therefore, the two teams withdrew. Some other communist states showed their solidarity with the GDR and North Korea, by boycotting the tournament. Thus, only four participants remained.

Schedule

The four participants played in a group " everyone against everyone ". The group winner was the new world champion.
