The United States Census 1970 was the 19th census of the United States since 1790. It was conducted by the United States Census Bureau.

Results

At the reporting date on April 1, 1970 203 392 031 people lived in the United States. The population grew so that in comparison with 1960 by 13.4 percent. The most populous state was California for the first time with 19.95 million inhabitants, the smallest of Alaska with 302 173. California had developed the New York State replaced as the strongest population since the last census in 1960.
