1976 1. deild

The Faroe Islands Football Championship 1976 was held in the first Deild said first Faroese league and overall was the 34th season. It started on 25 April 1976 and ended on 26 September 1976.

Up NSÍ Runavík was the twelfth participants in the highest division after the introduction of the League operation in 1947. Champion TB Tvøroyri who could thus win the title for the fourth time. Cup decision

HB Tórshavn was after four wins from their first four games from the second game permanently to square one. This did not change the 1:3 away defeat on Matchday against KÍ Klaksvík nothing. After two more victories HB met on the ninth Round to the direct followers TB Tvøroyri that were only one point behind. After TB won the home game 4-2, there was a change at the top. The distance could TB Tvøroyri hold until the end. On 13 and thus penultimate game the decision was made for the championship. Although HB won the away match against NSÍ Runavík 5-0, but since TB also won their home match 5-1 against ÍF Fuglafjørður, was the team from Tvøroyri established as a master.

Relegation battle

NSÍ Runavík had no chance and occupied throughout the last place. All games were scarce despite two results consistently lost. The descent was made after the 1-3 defeat in the away game against direct competitors ÍF Fuglafjørður on the twelfth game day, which could therefore increase the distance to an unassailable eight points.

In the National Cup HB Tórshavn won 1-0 and 3-0 against KÍ Klaksvík. Master TB Tvøroyri bowed out with 1:4 against HB Tórshavn.
