Background

Two weeks after the Grand Prix of Monaco joined the Formula 1 for the sixth race of the season in the Belgian Zolder. Patrick Tambay was missing due to injury and was at McLaren by Bruno Giacomelli, who was originally scheduled as a guest in a third unit carriage, represented.
