1981 AFC Women's Championship

The 4th Asian Cup Women was held in the period 7 to 17 June 1981 in Hong Kong. The winner was the be incurred under the name Chinese Taipei team from Taiwan by a 5-0 victory over Thailand. Taiwan became the third consecutive time after 1977 and 1979 Asian champion.

Mode

There were no qualifiers. All eight teams entered directly took part in the tournament and were divided into two groups of four. Within the preliminary groups, each team plays once against each other. The group winners and the best runners-up spot to reach the semi-finals. The semi-final winners reach the finals, the semi-final losers play for third place.
