1983 World Series

The World Series 1983 was the 80th edition of the Finals of the Major League Baseball. The champions of the American League, the Baltimore Orioles won 4-1 wins her third and so far last World Series title. The losing team in the National League were the Philadelphia Phillies. The series is often referred to as " I-75 Series " means due to the fact that both cities are connected by Interstate 75.

As MVP Series catcher Rick Dempsey Baltimore was excellent.

The anthem " The Star- Spangled Banner " before the first game was presented by country and folk singer John Denver.

Starting position

The Philadelphia Phillies won their division with six games ahead of the Pittsburgh Pirates, could then prevail in the NLCS with 3-1 victories against the LA Dodgers. The team of the Phillies had in the season was a high average age of 32 years, which among other things, aging players like Pete Rose ( 42 years), Tony Perez (41 years ) and Joe Morgan ( 39 years old).

The Baltimore Orioles won their division lead with six wins. Second Placed Team were the Detroit Tigers. In the ALCS, the Orioles beat the Chicago White Sox then after 0-1 deficit to a 3-1 victory.
