1986 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship

The Volleyball Women's World Cup 1986 was held from September 2 to 13 in Czechoslovakia. The Chinese team was able to defend their title successfully. The Games were held in Prague, Žilina, Plzeň, Brno, Olomouc and Ostrava.

Mode

The sixteen participants played in the first round in four groups of four. The top three teams in each group reached the second round, the remaining teams determined the placements thirteen to sixteen. The results were taken against direct competitors. In the second round, there were two groups of six. The group winners and runners qualified for the semifinals and the other teams wore the other placement games out.

The Federal Republic of Germany played with Ursula Jacob, Silke Meyer, Gudrun Witte, Beate Bühler, Gudula dust, Sigrid Terstegge, Michaela Vosbeck, Renate Riek, Karen Baumeister, Constanze Wolter, Alexandra Ludwig, Terry Place Brandel, Beate Münster Kötter, Ute Hankers and Juliane Schlipf.

Qualification

Host Czechoslovakia and the seven best teams in the last World Cup qualified automatically. It was the defending champion China, the Second Peru, the third party United States, the Fourth Japan, the Fifth Cuba, the Soviet Union and the Sixth Seventh South Korea. The top ranked participants in the current continental championships, which are not among the top 7 of the last World Cup were also set. This was the GDR ( Europe ), Canada ( NORCECA ), Brazil (South America ), North Korea (Asia) and Tunisia (Africa). The remaining three starting points were awarded for a qualifying tournament in Rome. Here were eleven teams in a five - and a group of six, one of which the top three teams reached a final group. The first three teams in the final group qualified for the World Cup.
