1988–89 Austrian Hockey League season
The 1988/89 season of the Austrian Hockey League was played with six clubs. Champion for the seventh time a club from Innsbruck, Innsbruck GEV.
- 3.1 Final round ( 6 laps)
Participants and mode
The field changed only slightly compared to the previous season. The EC Salzburg took no more part in the league, leaving just six teams remained, as last year's National League champions SV Kapfenberg gave up a climb. The EV Innsbruck joined this time under the name Gosser sponsors EV Innsbruck (or short: GEV Innsbruck ) on.
The six teams played in the regular season four times against each other. All teams qualified for the existing well from four rounds finals, with the first four clubs were credited with 4, 3, 2 and 1 bonus points. The top four teams qualified for the final round. This was the last season in which a master round mode was chosen Everyone against everyone as a playoff format. In the following season, the North American knock-out system should be used.
