1989–90 Albanian Superliga

Kategoria e Pare The 1989/90 (in a sense: First League ) was the 51th staging of the Albanian Football Championship and was hosted by the National Football Association Federata Shqiptare e Futbollit. The season began on August 25, 1989 and ended on 20 May 1990.

Course of the season

The league consisted of 12 teams as last year. In the 1988/89 season KS Skënderbeu Korçë and KS Traktori Lushnja were relegated from the Kategoria e Pare, for the new season came KS Tomori Berat FK Luftëtari Gjirokastra and that both had managed to direct resurgence, added. Titleholder was 17 Nëntori Tirana.

The championship was played in a regular season with three rounds. A Master and relegation round, there was not this season. Each team entered three times against any other team, with the top six of the table in the third round played six home and five away games. In addition, a new special provision was introduced, which should bring the team more attacking football: for a win with three goals difference or more an additional point was awarded for a defeat with the same difference, a point was deducted. Unlike last year, only the table last rose directly in the then second-rate Kategoria e Dyte from since the league should be increased again to 14 participants in the following season. The Master moved into the European Champion Clubs' Cup, the runner-up qualified for the UEFA Cup.

A total of 446 were gates, corresponding to an average of 2.3 goals per game. Scorer with 19 goals for the second time after 1986 Kujtim Majaci of KF Apolonia Fier.

After four seasons Dinamo Tirana returned to the top and secured the fourteenth championship in club history. So you moved back the same with the previous sole record masters Partizani Tirana and 17 Nëntori. Here, however, we also benefited from the fact that followers Partizani Tirana were deducted two points for exceeding the maximum number of yellow and red cards. This deduction Partizani finally was one point behind Dinamo. These two clubs had settled far from the rest of the field; third-placed Flamurtari Vlora, which pushed forward after a season in the relegation round again into the upper regions of the table, already ten points lay back. Also defending 17 Nëntori Tirana followed far behind in fourth. Behind Vllaznia Shkoder and with a penalty provided Apolonia Fier came a climber Luftëtari Gjirokastra, thus securing the sovereign League whereabouts. Also Besa Kavaja and the other newcomer Tomori Berat and Durres Lokomotiva could just keep away from the relegation zone. Happy was the league for Labinoti Elbasan: only thanks to the three penalty points for Besëlidhja Lezha remained Elbasan from relegation away. After a season in the Champions Round Lezha now had to take the course in the second division.
