1989 AFC Women's Championship

The 7th Asian Cup Women was held in the period from December 19 to 29, 1989 in Hong Kong. The winner was the second time in a row China to a 1-0 victory over Taiwan.

Mode

There were no qualifiers. All eight teams entered directly took part in the tournament and were divided into two groups of four. Within the preliminary groups, each team plays once against each other. The group winners and the best runners-up spot to reach the semi-finals. The semi-final winners reach the finals, the semi-final losers play for third place.
