1991 FIFA Women's World Cup qualification

The qualifying matches for the World Cup of Women in 1991 took place between July 14, 1991 September 9, 1989.

49 organizations had signed up for the World Cup. Four African teams covered in the course of the qualification back their participation. On all continents, a continental championship served as a qualification tournament. Teams with a red star have qualified for the final tournament of the respective continental championship. Teams with two red stars have qualified for the World Cup.

From Europe reported 18 teams were divided into two groups of three and in three groups of four. The group winners from the three groups and the two groups best of each group of four qualified for the quarter- finals. The winners of the quarter finals and the loser best qualified for the World Cup 1991. Additionally, the Women's European Championship 1991 was played at the tournament. The last four teams played in Denmark from the title.

The three registered teams played a simple round of the tournament without a leg to qualify for the World Cup in China in 1991 and the title of South America at the same time master. The tournament was held in Maringá ( Brazil).

North and Central America / CONCACAF

The seven reported national team played a tournament in Port -au -Prince, the Haitian capital. First, the teams played in two groups of four, the two best group of each group qualified for the semifinals, where the tournament was continued in the knockout system. The winner of the tournament was qualified for the World Cup in 1991, the same time it was also the continental championship of CONCACAF States. Since Martinique was not a FIFA member, the team would not have been allowed to start in the event of a tournament victory for the World Cup.

The tournament in Fukuoka, Japan, served as a World Cup qualifier and Asia Cup. It was held until June 8, 1991 by May 26. The first three nations qualified for the World Cup 1991.

8 African teams determined in three knockout rounds of the African champions and at the same time a representative of Africa at the 1991 Women's World Cup.
