1991 FIFA World Youth Championship
The eighth FIFA World Cup ( officially: VI World Youth Championship For The FIFA / Coca -Cola Cup) was held in Portugal from 14 to 30 June 1991. A total of 16 teams participated in the tournament. In the final, defending Portugal defeated the team from Brazil 4-2 in a penalty shootout after it was still 0-0 after 120 minutes of play. Portugal thus secured his second world title in a row.
To the best player of the tournament, the Portuguese Emilio Peixe was elected. The Golden Boot for the top scorer of the Soviet striker Serhiy Scherbakov was able to secure with 5 goals.
North and South Korea took part in the World Cup together as a united team Korea.
