1996 RHI season
The 1996 season was the fourth season of Roller Hockey International. The regular season began for the 18 teams in May 1996 and ended in September. There were 28 complete games, the best eight teams qualified for the play-offs that went until September. The fourth Murphy Cup winners were the Orlando Jackals, which prevailed in the Best of three final series against the Anaheim Bullfrogs 2-1.
On 8 July 1996, the third RHI All-Star Game was held in Anaheim Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim. There sat the selection of the Western Conference against the Eastern Conference with by 14:12.
Change of teams
The following changes were made before the season:
- As new teams the Denver Daredevils and the Long Iceland Jawz were added.
- The Buffalo Stampede, Chicago Cheetahs and Detroit Motor City Mustangs dissolved.
- The Minnesota Blue Ox and Oklahoma Coyotes withdrew from the league, but persisted.
- The Phoenix Cobras became the Empire State Cobras.
- The Orlando Rollergators called themselves around in Orlando Jackals.
