1997–98 Austrian Hockey League season

The 1997/98 season of the Austrian Hockey League was played on the Alps league season with the six Austrian representatives of the international competition in the port. Champion for the fifth time in a row and for the ninth time in the club's history defending VEU Feldkirch, who won in the final against EC KAC.

Participants and mode

The field remained unchanged compared to the previous year. The six teams had previously denied the Alps League, which had ended on December 6 with the championship of the VEU Feldkirch. Furthermore, the Vorarlberg had in January just before the state championship and the European Hockey League can decide for themselves where they had prevailed in the final against the Russian team HK Dynamo Moscow 5-3. The Vorarlberg had thus in a single season won three titles, thus strengthening its supremacy in the Austrian Hockey.

The six teams played in the regular season four times each against the other, the last two rounds were shortened by the bankruptcy of the Kapfenberg SV, which had not been able to play to the end of the season. Subsequently, a play-off was played, with all encounters in the best-of -seven - mode were played. The most successful clubs in the four Austrian Alps League were credited four, three, two and one bonus points.
