1997–98 Slovak 1.Liga season

The season 1997/98 was the fifth regular hosting of the first league, the second Slovakian Hockey League. Master was the ŠK Iskra Banská Bystrica, who rose as the runner-up HK VTJ Prešov directly in the Extraliga. Third-placed HK Spartak Dubnica qualified for the Extra Liga relegation, in which he, however, failed at HK 32 Liptovsky Mikulas. The ŠK Matador Púchov dismounted in the second league.

Mode

In the main round each of the twelve teams completed a total of 44 games. The top two teams after the main round up automatically in the Extraliga, while the third place winner is qualified for the Extra Liga relegation. The-table after the main round rose directly from the 2nd league. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point. For one defeat after regulation time gave no points.
