1997 South Asian Football Federation Gold Cup

The third South Asian Football Championship, officially South Asian Football Federation Cup 1997 was held until September 13, 2003 in Kathmandu, Nepal on 9. At the tournament six South Asian nations took part. South Asia Champion 1997 was India with a 5-1 win over the Maldives. Pakistan was a victory against the defending champion Sri Lanka third. The Maldives began participating in the SAFF Cup.

Venue

Venue of the third South Asian Football Federation Cup was the Nepalese capital Kathmandu. It was the first orientation of the SAFF Cup and an international football nations tournament in Nepal. Venue for all tournament games was the Dasarath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu.
