1999 Men's European Volleyball Championship

The Volleyball European Championship Men 1999 was held from September 7 to 12 in Austria. The Games were held in Vienna and Wiener Neustadt. Italy won for the fourth time the title.

Mode

First, a preliminary round was held, in which the eight teams were divided into two groups of four. The top two teams in each group reached the semi-finals. The third-placed and fourth played for places five to eight.

Qualification

Austria was set as host. 18 other teams played in three groups of six to seven other places. The teams competed against each opponent home and away. The group winners and the best second and third to the final round.
