2 -bromopropane is an organic chemical compound from the group of bromohydrocarbons.
Representation
2- bromopropane is obtained from 2-propanol by reaction with hydrobromic acid ( HBr).
The electrophilic addition of hydrogen bromide to propene follows Markovnikov by 2- bromopropane.
Similarly, 2 -bromopropane are obtained by Appel Reaction of 2- propanol, carbon tetrabromide ( CBr4 ) and triphenylphosphine (PPh3).
