2 Unlimited

2 Unlimited is a dance-floor duo that was successful in the European charts from 1991 to 1996. It consists of the rapper Ray Slijngaard and singer Anita Doth ( Dels Anita Daniëlle ), both from the Netherlands. In the background the Belgian producers Jean -Paul De Coster and Phil Wilde worked. Since 11 July 2012, the Act is officially back with the original cast.

History

2 Unlimited was the first formation that successfully combined elements from the underground techno with pop. Their first hit was in 1991 "Get Ready For This ", the single reached number two in the UK, # 6 in the Netherlands and later ranked number 38 in the USA.

All 16 singles with the original line-up achieved in the Netherlands Top 20, the first eleven singles also the Top 20 in the UK. The last single " Spread Your Love" was at least 13th place in the Netherlands. Their biggest hits were No Limit (1992 ), Tribal Dance (1993) and The Real Thing (1994). After three albums and a greatest hits collection parted the formation, mainly due to musical differences between Ray and Anita Doth Slijngaard with the producers.

1998 sent the producers, the two singers Romy van Oojen and Marjon van Iwaarden with pop disco songs than 2 Unlimited in the race, but the success was short-lived. The first two singles were hits in the Netherlands, "Wanna Get Up " even reached the Top 10 in Germany the singles " Wanna Get Up" and "The Edge Of Heaven" were published. Both the album " II " and the last single from this album, "Never Surrender" (5th place in Spain in 1998 ), were not published in Germany. In 2003 and 2004, published ZYX Music new remixes of " No Limit " and " Tribal Dance ". The vocals were from the original versions. In March 2007, Anita Doth Originalinterpretin entered as " 2 Unlimited " on the RTL Chart Show. Published in 2009, the band Casting beFour a cover version of "No Limit".

Since 2008, Ray and Anita are back to each other in regular contact. Old disputes have been resolved. They expressed themselves against the Dutch press that there could be a reunion for live gigs, if they succeed in securing the rights to the name " 2 Unlimited ". 2009 were these rights still held by producers, however, were Ray and Anita 2009 for the first time since 1996 back together on one stage. On February 27, 2009 Anita joined initially alone at RTL in " Die ultimative Chart Show - Dancefloor Hits" at Oliver goats, and sang the title " No Limit " live. On April 11 and 12, 2009 Ray & Anita occurred in the context of " I Love The 90's Party " in Hasselt / Belgium for the first time after 13 years together again, and played in front of 44,000 people, almost all 2- Unlimited- Hits. On 30 April 2009 already followed the second major appearance at the Queens Day in Amsterdam. At the largest open- air stage of the city Ray & Anita celebrated as the main act her stage comeback in the Netherlands before about 100,000 visitors.

2009 first comeback of the original performers along with Phil Wilde, one of its two original producer was announced. Thus, a new single and a new album later should appear in January 2010. As Jean -Paul De Coster the rights to the name held still 2 Unlimited, both now appeared under the name of Ray & Anita. A produced without Phil Wilde single entitled " In da name of Love" reached the Top 5 in the Netherlands; However, the announced album did not appear.
