2. Liga

The second league is the sixth highest Swiss league in football. Their game mode is for the regional associations. There are in all of Switzerland total 8 groups of 12 teams, 3 groups of 13 teams and six groups with 14 teams in the second league (as of season 2012/ 2013).

While most regional associations only entertain a second league group, some larger organizations ( Bern / Jura, Zurich, East Switzerland, Vaud) have two groups. The 17 group winners and the runner-up of the division 2 group of the Inner Swiss Football Association together form the 18 newly promoted to the 2nd league interregional, while the weakest relegated to the third division.
