20-Meter-Band

The 20-meter amateur radio band extends from 14.0 MHz to 14.35 MHz. The name is derived from the approximate wavelength of this frequency range. It is the classic wide- band traffic (DX - band). In the solar maximum is used almost around the clock, so that radio communications with all continents are possible. In the sunspot minimum, however, the 20 - meter band is usable only during the day and into the early evening hours, sometimes even falls out completely. The dead zone is often greater than 1,000 kilometers.
