2003 South American Women's Football Championship

The 4th Sudamericano Femenino (South American Women's Football Championship) was held in the period from 23 to 27 April 2003 in Peru. It was played in the capital Lima. The winner was the fourth time in Brazil. Originally the tournament from 5 should - April 16, 2002 in Córdoba ( Argentina) will be played. Then the tournament was awarded to Peru and should be held in January / February 2003. Later it was decided to stage three regional qualifying round tournaments. The three group winners then contested the final tournament with defending champions Brazil.

Mode

Each of the four finalists plays once against every other team. The point- best team is the winner. The South American champions and the runners-up qualified for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2003.

Decisions

Brazil and Argentina were qualified for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2003. Brazil also qualified for the Olympic Games 2004.
