2006–07 CEV Champions League

The 2006/07 season of Volleyball Champions League began on 27 September 2006 with the group stage and ended with the final on 1 April 2007., 24 teams from 13 nations took part in the competition. VfB Friedrichshafen won the first German team competition and managed the Triple.

Balance

As German representatives started - as in the previous season - the German champions VfB Friedrichshafen and the runner- evivo Düren. Austria was again represented by the Hypo Tirol Innsbruck and Volleyball Team Aon hotVolleys Vienna.

VfB Friedrichshafen began with a 0-3 defeat in Cuneo in the group stage, but won the next game and was defeated narrowly in Athens in the fifth set. A clear 3-0 home win against Panathinaikos was the basis for reaching the next round. With a final victory against the Italians, the VfB secured still win the group. In the play-off to Friedrichshafen won against Noliko Maaseik and Sisley Treviso and reached the Final Four. There the German champions secured against Lube Macerata and Tours VB the title.

Evivo Duren won by a 2:3 home defeat Tours his next two matches against Podgorica and in Innsbruck. Despite good performances it often enough but then in the second CL participation only to a 3-0 win over Innsbruck. With the 1:3 in Podgorica the runner missed the last chance to make it to the play-off round is reached.

Hypo Tirol Innsbruck benefited from a decision of the CEV. The European Association appreciated the fact with 2:3 lost home game against Belgorod 3-0 sets and 75:0 ball points, because the Russians (as well as 3-0 in the next game against Tours) used an unauthorized players. The victory " at the green table " was the only success for the Austrians, who lost all the other games.

The Aon hotVolleys Vienna could only home games against the teams placed in front of them from Piraeus and Sofia win and thus eliminated as well as the Innsbruck group than last.

Group stage

During the draw on 23 September 2006, the qualified teams were divided into four groups of six participants. The top three teams in each group and Ostrava as the best group in fourth through to the next round.

Play-off

In addition to the set VK hosts Dynamo Moscow still three teams qualified for the Final Four. These teams were determined in two play-off rounds with return game. The games were held on 14 and 21 February and 7 and 14 March 2007.

Final Four

In the Final Four on March 31 and April 1, 2007 played the VK Dynamo Moscow, which was determined after the completion of the group matches of the CEV as host, against the three qualified in the playoffs teams. Venue was the Khodynka Arena. VfB Friedrichshafen defeated in the finals Tours VB 3-1 and the host VC Dynamo finished in third place.
