2006 IIHF World U18 Championships
The 8th World Ice Hockey Championships U18 Juniors of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships were in 2006 in the age group of under- eighteen year olds ( U18). In total, between March 13 and April 22, 2006 40 teams in the six tournaments in the top division and the divisions I to III part.
The world champion was the third time the crew of the United States who could beat Finland in the final 3-1. The German team was able to prevent the eighth rank in the top division relegation to Division I, Switzerland was awarded first place in Group A, Division I and thus made the direct resurgence. Austria was fifth, second from bottom in Group A of Division I and was thus able to avoid relegation to Division II.

Top Division
The U18 World Championship was held in the Swedish cities Ängelholm and Halmstad from 12 to 22 April 2006. It was played in the Ängelholms Ishall ( 4,600 seats) in Ängelholm and the Sannarps Isstadion in Halmstad with 3,800 seats.
At the tournament was attended ten national teams who played in two groups of five teams. The world champion secured the United States, who won just in the final with a 3-1 win against Finland. It was the third overall title for the Americans and second in a row.
Mode
After the group matches of the preliminary round, the two group winners qualify directly for the semi-finals. The runners-up and third - ever deny a qualifier for the semi-finals. The Fourth and Fifth of the group will contest - if you bring the result of the direct encounter of the first round - the relegation round and thereby determine two relegated to Division I.
