2007 Caribbean Cup

The Digicel Caribbean Cup 2007 was the 13th playout of the Caribbean Football Championship. The competition began with the first round of qualifying on 2 September 2006. Finals took place from January 12 to 23, 2007 in Trinidad and Tobago instead. The Games Stadium in Port of Spain and Manny Ramjohn Stadium were held in Marabella (San Fernando ) in the Hasely Crawford. Title sponsor of the tournament was the telecommunications company Digicel, based in Jamaica.

The four best teams in this tournament participated in the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Besides the winner Haiti, these were Trinidad and Tobago, Cuba and Guadeloupe.

Qualification

A total of 25 teams had registered for the competition. All were members of the Caribbean Football Union, a regional subsidiary of the CONCACAF. Hosts Trinidad and Tobago was set without qualifying for the finals.

Aruba, French Guiana, Montserrat, Puerto Rico and Sint Maarten did not participate. The British Virgin Islands pulled her back shortly before the qualifiers, so that ultimately competed 23 teams to qualify.

First round

The first round was played between the 2nd and 30th of September. The six group winners and runners qualified for the second round.

Group A

All games were held in Ergilio Hato Stadium in Willemstad, Netherlands Antilles.

Group B

All games were held in Antigua Recreation Ground in St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda.

Group C

All matches were played in Lionel Roberts Park in Charlotte Amalie on Saint Thomas ( U.S. Virgin Islands).

The British Virgin Islands withdrew their participation back before the qualifiers.

Group D

All games were held at Independence Park in Kingston, Jamaica.

Group E

All matches were played at the Estadio Pedro Marrero in Havana, Cuba.

Group F

All matches were played at the Stade René Serge Nabajoth in Les Abymes on Guadeloupe.

Second Round

The second round was played between 8 November 2006 and 9 January 2007. The six group winners and best runners qualified for the final tournament.

Group G

All games were held in Barbados National Stadium in Saint Michael Barbados.

Group H

All games were played in the Bourda Cricket Ground in Georgetown in Guyana instead.

Group I

All games took place at the Stade d'Honneur de Dillon in Fort- de -France in Martinique.

Play-Off

The games were held on 5th and 9th January 2007 at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago instead. The third placings Bermuda, Dominican Republic and Haiti should initially play a new participant to the finals. As the team of the Dominican Republic withdrew, only Haiti and Bermuda played in home and away leg against each other.

Finals

The group winners and runners qualified for the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2007 and also played for the winner of the Caribeean Nations Cup.

Group A

All games were played in the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain instead.

Group B

All games were held Stadium in Marabella (San Fernando ) Manny Ramjohn.
