2008 Malaysia Super Series
The Malaysia Super Series 2008 was the inaugural tournament of the BWF Super Series 2008 badminton. It was held in Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia from 15 January until 20 January 2008.

Absences
In spite of the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 there were some rather prominent absentees or dropouts. Among them were Lin Dan (BWF 1 ) from China and Boonsak Ponsana from Thailand ( BWF 11). Peter Gade of Denmark defended his title in 2007 not because he wanted to care for his sick family. Xie Xingfang, the Chinese world number one, the tournament had to quit after she had been injured in a fall at the hotel.
