2008 Tour de France, Stage 1 to Stage 11#Stage 7
The 7th stage of the 2008 Tour de France on July 11 was 159 km long and ran from Brioude to Aurillac. There were three intermediate sprints and two climbs of the third category, the second category two climbs and a mountain stage of the fourth category on the program.
Overall, the race course was very hectic and characterized by many breakaways. Shortly after the start, there was Christophe Moreau and William Frischkorn the first attack, but they were caught again. The same thing happened with other runaways who tried it later. The first mountain stage David Millar was able to secure the second Jens Voigt. In doing so several times small groups, but were able to achieve any great projection formed. A crash in the field resulted in a fraction of the field. Later it formed a 25 - man breakaway group before the last three mountains Luis León Sánchez from a, Josep jufré, David de la Fuente and Vincenzo Nibali. The climbs the Col d' Entremont, the Pas de Peyrol ( the highest road pass in the Massif Central ) and the Côte de Saint -Jean -de- Donne won each of David de la Fuente, who thus secured the mountain jersey. The goal in Aurillac was reached on a 1100 meters long and 7 meters wide stretch. There Sánchez secured the stage victory, which was allowed to settle with an attack another 4 km to go. In the overall standings but the fact there were no amendments.
