2008 UEFA Women's U-17 Championship

The first U-17 Football Championship Women was held in the period from 20 to 23 May, 2008 Nyon ( Switzerland ). Venue was the Centre sportif de Colovray. Game were eligible players who were born on 1 January 1991 or later. All four finalists represent Europe at the U- 17 World Cup 2008 in New Zealand.

First European champion Germany was by a 3-0 final victory over France. Scorer was the German Dzsenifer Marozsán with two goals. The German team also won the Fair Play ranking.

Mode

The four teams determine the European Champion in the knockout system. The winners of the semifinals to reach the final and play the European champions. The losers play for third place. A game lasts regularly twice 40 minutes. Is it the end of regulation time draw as the game twice to ten minutes longer. If there's still no decision have fallen, the decision is in the penalty shootout.

The first semi-final between Germany and Denmark developed into an exciting game with many chances on both sides. The German team had a slight advantage here. In 44 minutes played Dzsenifer Maroszan from 1 FC Saarbrücken of two Danish defenders and put the ball at the goalkeeper Lene Gissel Rasmussen into the net. In the rest of the season Denmark rose again the pressure, but only came to three other opportunities.

The first half of the second game ended goalless. With 46 minutes played Stephanie Marsh brought the English women in leadership. Pauline Crammer was like three minutes later from the penalty spot. Other goals were not covered. In the extension Marine brought Augis ( 94 ) French women in leadership. The decision came in the 99th minute through a penalty by Marina Makanza.
