Background

After the Turkish Grand Prix Jenson Button led the Drivers' Championship with 26 points, ahead of Rubens Barrichello and 32 points ahead of Sebastian Vettel. Brawn -Mercedes resulted in the Constructors' Championship with 39.5 points ahead of Red Bull-Renault and 63.5 points ahead of Toyota.

After McLaren -Mercedes KERS had expanded only drove at Silverstone the Scuderia Ferrari with the system.

The Grand Prix of Great Britain should be held in 2009 for the last time on the traditional track at Silverstone and take place at Donington in 2010. Training

Race

On lap 31 there was a duel of former team-mate Hamilton and Alonso. First, Hamilton overtook the Spaniard, one lap later launched a counter-attack and Hamilton overtook back before Stowe. In the duel was about the 16th Place. In the 35th round, there was a collision between Bourdais and Kovalainen. Cause of this collision was a mistake: Kovalainen held Bourdais for Webber and made ​​him the lapping place, but recognized the Finn just before the end of the maneuver his mistake and makes. At the top of the Red Bull -Renault were able to settle on the field and claim the two lead after the pit stops. Fourth place Massa sat with a later stop by to Rosberg. For Vettel it was the second victory of the season and the first under dry conditions. With a win, pole position and the fastest lap of the German also scored a hat trick.
