2009 Super 14 season

The 2009 season was the fourth edition of Super 14 rugby union competition with 14 franchise teams from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa ( from 1996 to 2005 was called the Super 12 competition ).

The season began on 13 February 2009 and ended with the final on 30 May 2009. A total of 94 matches were played, each team round-robin against the 13 other teams fought out. It was followed by two semi-finals and eventually the finals. Defending champions were the Crusaders from the New Zealand city of Christchurch. The Bulls from the South African capital Pretoria won for the second time the title and defeated in the finals with the Chiefs 61:17, which meant the highest final victory in the tournament's history.

  • 2 points for a draw
  • 0 points for a loss (before possible bonus points )
