201 Portage

The 201 Portage (also: CanWest Global Place) is a high office building in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The building is located at the intersection of Portage and Main. It has 34 floors and reaches a height of 128 meters. The building was constructed between 1988 and 1990 by the Toronto - Dominion Bank. Construction costs amounted to 38 million dollars. The Gebüde is owned by Creswin Properties, a privately owned real estate company, which is run by the Asper family.

History

(Also: McArthur Building ) the pre-existing building on the site, which as Childs Building was the start of construction of the building was demolished known. Originally a second building was planned with 30 floors. This has not been realized.

Use

The building was bought after completion of the Canadian company CanWest and served as headquarters. On 1 September 2008, the television station Global Winnipeg moved ( KKND -DT) the building. Since the acquisition of Global TV through Shaw Media, located in the thirtieth floor the broadcast studios of Global Winnipeg ( CKND ). The end of 2012, the Canadian company RBC Dominion Securities involved the upper floors. In addition to other tenants in the building are located on the ground floor and the foyer several shopping venues, restaurants and cafe's. Due to the central location of the building in 2009, a large screen was installed, which advertisement, news, weather and other local information displays.
