2010 AFC U-19 Championship

The U-19 Football Championship 2010 ( officially: AFC U19 Championship 2010 ) was the 36th edition of the tournament and was held in Shandong province, China from 3rd to 17th October 2010.

Winner of this edition was the choice of North Korea, which in the final against Australia prevailed 3-2. For East Asians, it was after 1976 and 2006, the third title in this age group. The Australian Kerem Bulut was with seven -goal top scorer of the tournament.

Host

After the last issue in Saudi Arabia was held, an East Asian state was provided to host the next edition rotational basis. By the end of the application period on 11 June 2009, Thailand, Indonesia and China had applied for hosting the tournament.

In November 2009, the Asian Association announced that the eligible countries could re-apply to host the tournament. In addition to Thailand and China now also Australia, Jordan, Iran and Vietnam competed as host.

On 18 February 2010, China has been officially confirmed as hosts of the tournament. The People's Republic addressed the tournament for the first time.

Venue

As the host was selected in Zibo, Shandong Province. The Games were held in Zibo Sports Center Stadium and Linzi Stadium.

In the 45,000 -seater Zibo Sports Center Stadium, the Games of the groups A and B, two quarter- finals, semi-finals and the finals were held, while the Linzi Stadium C host of groups and D, two quarter-finals and one semi-final was. The stadium located in the administrative area Linzi has a capacity of 14,000 spectators and was renovated at this Tournament.

Participant

Qualification

Of the 46 member associations of the AFC is 42 signed up to participate. The teams were according to their geographical location in the West group consisting of Western, Central and South Asia, and the eastern group consisting of Southeast and East Asia as well as Australia, distributed. During the draw, the teams were divided into seven groups of six teams.

The qualification was played from October to December 2009 it qualified the two group winners. Added to this were the best group in each third of the Western and Eastern Group.

Group stage draw

The group draw took place on 9 May 2010 at the Century Hotel in Zibo instead. Host China was set as group head of the first group, the remaining teams were distributed according to their results in the latest edition of the four Lostöpfe.

Mode

The competition consisted of a discharged the league system, with round-trip games qualifying round, and the discharged in a group stage and the finals finals.

In the final round of the sixteen participants formed four preliminary round groups of four teams, of which the top two qualified for the quarter-finals. In the group stage, each team played each of the other teams in the group after the championship mode, where one point was awarded for a win and three for a draw. From the quarter- finals, the tournament was continued in the semi-finals and final of the knockout system, with the winner of the match qualified for the next round. Finished a game after regular time undecided, it was extended by two times 15 minutes. Was also after extra time no decision has been made, the winner of the match on penalties was determined. Moreover, the four best teams in the tournament will qualify for the U-20 World Cup 2011 in Colombia.
